Color Throwdown Challenge #281

Hello everyone and welcome to another Color Throwdown Challenge!!!! Monika is our hostess with the mostess this week and her colors and inspiration picture are simply stunning!!!! I took a pretty literal approach to the inspiration because I just love that big beautiful sunset!!!

My card features a Sweet n Sassy stamp set called The Sea. A circle cut from Eclipse Masking tape and was placed on a piece of white card stock The background was then brayered with Spiced Marmalade and Festive Berries Distress Inks. The tape was removed and the sun was sponged with So Saffron.  Then the image and sentiment were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black...the twine is the finishing touch.

The sun kinda looks like it is floating on the water but the part under the water is supposed to be the reflection....just don't look too close...LOL!!!

Remember, you don't have to use the exact colors.....use what you have as long as they are close to the challenge colors and be sure to add CTD281 to the keywords section when you upload your cards to an online gallery so we can find your creations!!

You can find out all the challenge details on the Color Throwdown Blog.

Color Throwdown Challenge #280

Hello everyone and welcome to another Color Throwdown Challenge!!!! Melody is our hostess this week and she has picked some fun colors to play with!!! I had to think on this combo a day or two and then a light bulb went off in my little brain...the soft sky reminded me of a Ball jar.  Sooooo.....

I pulled out my Paper Smooches Crystal Clear set!! The jar was stamped on soft sky card stock with soft sky ink and sponged with soft sky around the edges. Several of the flower stems were stamped off and then stamped on the jar to look like the flowers were in the jar. The flowers were stamped with night of navy and the leaves were stamped with old olive. They were all cutout and adhered to the back of the jar before it was adheres to the background paper with foam dots.

The striped piece was stamped with old olive, cutout, and adhered under the jar and the sentiment was stamped on  vanilla card stock and sewing was done along the side. The hemp cording and button finish it off.

Remember, you don't have to use the exact colors.....use what you have as long as they are close to the challenge colors and be sure to add CTD280 to the keywords section when you upload your cards to an online gallery so we can find your creations!!

Taylored Expressions Band It Die

Hello everyone!! Today, for my Taylored Expressions February Die focus post, I am featuring the Band It die. This is the first time I have used this die and believe me...I will be using it a lot in the future!!! It's so versatile...it can be used for any sentiment or as part of the design...I love it!!!! I have several birthdays coming up so I made two birthday cards, today!!

My first card features papers from Simple Stories I (heart) Summer 6x6 paper pad. Sewing was done around the background barn wood paper and then the edges were distressed. The banners were all cut by hand and enamel shaped were added to the last banner.

The  Band It die set consisted of three different dies: the band, the scalloped center, and an oval top. The band was cut out of Riding Hood Red card stock and the two top layers were cut from the I (heart) paper scraps.  The Happy Birthday stamp is from the Taylored Expressions Say What? set and the It's Your Day stamp is from Taylored Expressions From Me To You set

My second card features stamps from the Taylored Expressions Ride the Wave set, paper from Simple Stories I (heart) Summer and enamel dots.

Hello everyone!! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!!! How was your Valentines Day?? My hubs gave me a dozen roses and took me out to a dinner theater...Whoohoo!!! It's been a while since we had time to go out on the town...I didn't know how to act...LOL!!! Every year a mystery theater comes to Ft. Hood...it's kinda like the Clue game. They have actors who act out 3 murders and the audience tries to figure out who did it and why. We didn't win but we had a great time anyway!!

I made a card this morning for the Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast...the inspiration store was called West Elm and I picked this gorgeous Peacock Silk Pillow Cover as my inspiration. The feathers from the new Taylored Expressions set called Wispy Wishes were stamped with Versamark, embossed with white ep, and cutout with the coordinating dies called Wispy Feathers

The background was created with the TE Ruffle My Feathers cutting plate...it was cut out of Not Quite Navy card stock and layered over black card stock. Rhinestones were added along with the white hemp cording to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by...have a wonderful evening!!!!
